Take part in your 1:1

Your one-to-ones with your manager are kept as records you can read, rather than only meetings in a calendar. This page covers what you can see before and after the conversation, and what you can add to it yourself.

Required role: Any signed-in user.

  1. Go to Feedback & 1:1s → 1:1s & Check-ins.
  2. Open the one-to-one you want, listed with your manager’s name.
  3. Read the Agenda your manager set.
  4. Read the Action items and how many are done.
  5. Write in My notes.
  6. Select Save notes.
OptionDescription
AgendaThe points your manager set for the conversation. Reading these in advance is the point of them being there.
Action itemsWhat was agreed, and how many have been completed.
MoodThe mood recorded against the check-in.
My notesYour own notes. These are shared — your manager sees them.

Your manager’s own notes are not on this screen, and neither is any AI preparation they generated. The screen tells you directly that their private prep notes are not shown here.

So the record you read is a real record, but it is not everything written about the conversation. If you want to know what your manager thinks, the conversation is the route to that, not the screen.

My notes is a shared field. What you write there, your manager reads. There is no private note for you on this screen.

Write it as something you would say. The field is useful for the things that are hard to say in the moment and easy to write afterwards — a commitment you want on the record, a point you did not get to.

Example: James Whitfield writes after a check-in that he would like the next conversation to cover moving towards a lead role. Olivia Bennett reads it before they next meet, which is a better outcome than him rehearsing how to raise it.

The agenda appears as soon as your manager schedules the check-in, which is usually days before you meet. Read it then. Arriving having thought about the same three things your manager has is most of what makes a one-to-one useful.

Once your manager completes the check-in, its notes, agenda, and mood are fixed and it moves into your history. Action items stay live and can still be ticked off. The accumulated record is what makes the next conversation continuous rather than a fresh start, and it is the same material a review can be argued from later.
