Check in and out

Checking in and out records when you started and stopped work. Those punches are what Humavera reconciles into a working day with hours on it.

Required role: Any signed-in user.

  1. Go to Time & Attendance → Check In.
  2. Select Check In at the start of your working time.
  3. Allow location and photo capture if you are asked for them.
  4. Select Capture & Check In, or Check in without photo.
  5. At the end, repeat with Check Out.

Where your employer has configured it, a punch can capture your location and a photo alongside the time.

OptionDescription
TimeAlways recorded. This is the punch itself.
LocationCaptured where permitted, and used to check whether you are inside an allowed area.
PhotoCaptured where the camera is available and you do not skip it.

What gets captured is a configuration choice your employer makes. Location and photo capture carry privacy implications that are for the employer to weigh against their reason for collecting them, and employees are told what is captured at the point of the punch — the screen says whether a photo was saved and whether location was locked.

Location is not required for the punch to work

Section titled “Location is not required for the punch to work”

A punch records without location where you deny permission or the lookup times out. The screen says so plainly rather than blocking you.

OptionDescription
Location lockedCoordinates captured, with an accuracy figure.
Inside your assigned areaThe punch is within an allowed geofence.
Outside assigned area — flagged for reviewRecorded and marked for someone to look at.
Location offPermission denied. The punch records without it.
Location timed outThe lookup failed. The punch records without it.

Whether a punch outside the allowed area is flagged or blocked depends on the attendance policy covering you. Flagging accepts the punch and marks it; rejecting blocks it, in which case the screen tells you the punch was not recorded.

If the camera is unavailable, you can still punch — the screen offers Skip photo, Check in without photo, and Check out without photo. A missing photo does not stop your time being recorded.

Example: Tom Hargreaves arrives with a phone whose camera is not working. He punches without a photo and his time is recorded normally.

A missing punch is common and it is handled rather than penalised. Depending on your employer’s policy, an unpaired check-in either closes automatically at the expected end of the day, or stays flagged until it is corrected.

Either way, the route to fix it is a correction request rather than punching a false time later.

Example: if James Whitfield forgets to check out on Tuesday, he requests a correction for that day instead of checking out on Wednesday morning.

Your punches reconcile into a day with a status — present, partial, or absent — and regular and overtime hours calculated against your attendance policy. You can see your own days under your attendance view, and where a day is wrong you can request a correction.
