Approve a mobility request
What this achieves
Section titled “What this achieves”A mobility request needs three approvals before anybody moves: the current manager, the target manager, and HR. This is where you clear the stage that is waiting on you, and where an approved move is finally carried out.
Required role: Administrator or Manager.
- Go to Opportunities → Requests.
- Select the Pending Approval tab.
- Open the request and read its type, its target, and the reason given.
- Select Approve and confirm, or select Reject and give a reason.
- Once every stage has cleared, select Complete transfer and confirm.
You are approving one stage, not the move
Section titled “You are approving one stage, not the move”The request shows its progress through Current Manager, Target Manager, and HR. Approving advances it to the next stage rather than granting the move outright.
Approving as a current manager says you are willing to release the person. It does not commit the receiving side, and it does not move anybody.
Example: Olivia Bennett approves the release of an engineer from Engineering at HC Corp UK Ltd. The request then waits on the target manager, and after that on HR, before anything changes.
What each stage is deciding
Section titled “What each stage is deciding”| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Current Manager | Whether the person can be released, and when. |
| Target Manager | Whether the receiving team is taking them. |
| HR | Whether the move is sound and correctly recorded. |
Each stage weighs something the others do not. A current manager who assumes HR will catch a problem, and an HR reviewer who assumes the managers agreed the timing, produce a move nobody actually checked.
Rejecting
Section titled “Rejecting”Rejecting ends the request. You are asked for a reason, which is optional.
Give one anyway. A rejected move is a disappointment to somebody who asked for it in writing, and a blank rejection is worse than a difficult sentence. Where the answer is “not yet” rather than “no”, say which it is.
Request status
Section titled “Request status”| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Pending current manager | Waiting on the manager the employee reports to now. |
| Pending target manager | Waiting on the receiving manager. |
| Pending HR | Waiting on HR. |
| Approved | Every stage cleared. Not yet carried out. |
| Rejected | Declined at one of the stages. |
| Completed | The transfer has been carried out. |
| Cancelled | Withdrawn by the requester. |
Completing the transfer
Section titled “Completing the transfer”Complete transfer is the step that actually moves the person. The confirmation states what it does: it sets the effective date to now and marks the request completed.
That has two consequences worth holding on to. The move takes effect immediately rather than on a date you choose, and a request left at Approved has changed nothing at all.
Check the Approved requests regularly. Somebody agreed to each of those moves, and until one is completed the employee’s record still shows the job they are leaving.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”A completed transfer updates the employee’s department, position, and reporting line with the effective date recorded against the change. Approvals in the rest of Humavera route along reporting lines, so a completed move changes who approves that person’s leave and expenses from that point.
