Work your recommendations

What this achieves

Matched Opportunities is the list of internal work suggested to you based on what your record says you can do. It saves you searching the marketplace for roles that fit, and shows what you would need to develop for the ones that nearly do.

Required role: Any signed-in user.

Steps

Go to Opportunities → Recommendations.
Use the New, Viewed, Dismissed, and All tabs to narrow the list.
Read the Match Score and Why this matches on a recommendation.
Check Match breakdown and any gaps listed under it.
Select Apply to apply, or View opportunity to open the full posting first.

Recommendations arrive on their own

You do not generate these. Matches are produced when an opportunity is posted, and new ones appear as more opportunities are published.

An empty list means nothing has been matched to you yet, not that you are unsuited to anything. Check back as postings appear.

What the match is based on

Option	Description
Skills	Your recorded skills against the skills the opportunity requires.
Competencies	The same comparison for competencies.
Experience	What your recorded experience contributes.
Education	What your recorded education contributes.

The comparison uses what has been recorded about you. Nothing about how you work or what you have delivered is in it, because none of that is in the comparison.

Example: James Whitfield uses a technology daily at HC Corp UK Ltd but has never had it assessed. Roles needing it will not match him well until it is on his record.

A match is a suggestion for you to weigh, not a judgement about you. A role you want that scored poorly is still a role you can apply for.

Gap analysis tells you what is missing

Where you fall short of a requirement, the gap analysis names it with what you have now, what the role needs, and how many levels there are between the two. Requirements you already meet are marked as met.

Where reskilling suggestions are given, they name what to develop to close the gap. This is the part worth reading even on a recommendation you have no intention of applying to, because it describes what the next role up would ask of you.

Recommendation status

Option	Description
New	Matched to you and not yet opened.
Viewed	You have opened it.
Applied	You have applied to the opportunity.
Dismissed	You have hidden it from your main list.

Dismissing one

Dismiss hides a recommendation you are not interested in. The confirmation tells you where it goes: the Dismissed tab, where you can find it again if you change your mind.

Dismissing does not tell anyone you were not interested, and it does not affect future matching.

What happens next

Applying from a recommendation opens the same application as applying from the marketplace, with a cover letter and the option to apply anonymously. Your application then appears under My Applications with its status. Where a recommendation shows gaps, the courses named against them are the practical route to being a stronger match next time.
